Hello Future Hackathon - Girls in Latvia come up with innovative ideas

The Latvian Information and Communications Technology Association (LIKTA) in cooperation with the EdTech organization Datorium organized a girls’ programming hackathon "Hello, Future" as part of the European "Girls in Digital Week" and the Code4Europe project.
This event was part of a broader initiative to stimulate young people's interest in technology and programming. The hackathon took place on March 28 at the Start-up house and brought together young girls from all over Latvia. The winning team will participate in the European final, representing Latvia with their innovative idea.
This year's hackathon theme was “Hello, Future: Technical Solutions for a Changing World,” and teams developed ideas on how to use technology to promote improvements in education, health, and sustainability. Eleven teams participated in the face-to-face finals in Riga.

Six experienced technology industry professionals took part in the final jury:

- Zane Biteniece – Riga City Council

The best teams were awarded in the following nominations:
- The most professional technical solution: team CertiLaunch – Kadrija Gerda Vītola, Kate Iesalniece, Sofia Poļemecka
- The greenest solution: team GlitchGirls – Amina Almazirli, Evelīna Tarasēviča, Bekija Baļčūne
- Rising Star in Design: team Clip & Save – Rūta Mellenberga, Emīlija Cēbere, Kate Kauliņa
- The most practical solution: Team Byte4Brain – Elza Vanaga, Heilija Kopmane, Patrīcija Kozlovska
- The most inclusive solution: IT Enjoyers - Darja Sičugova, Darja Kirilova, Marija Markule
- The most viable idea: Team Teletubiji – Katrīna Gintere, Katrīna Stūre, Tīna Doroteja Skrastiņa
- Best exact sciences solution: Team Šmieguļi – Agnese Laurina, Lauma Puriņa, Anna Belova, Polina
- Overall best solution: Team Dev’s of Imo AI – Enija Koloda, Luize Katkovska, Viktorija Ravdivja, Zlata Daškeviča

- Tech Odyssey – Maškevica, Katrīna Raupa, Marta Stoune, Simona Kusina
The idea of the team “Dev’s of Imo AI” “Imo” – a virtual artificial intelligence friend for teenagers, with whom to talk, play games together and spend free time in a safe and welcoming environment, taking care of their mental health, was nominated for the European final. During the hackathon, the team also created a prototype, which was very skillfully presented.
LIKTA and Datorium congratulate all participants and thank all supporters, as well as emphasize the importance of such initiatives in promoting the growth of young technology professionals. We keep our fingers crossed for the team “Dev’s of Imo AI”, which will represent Latvia in the European final!
